No, not really. Usually it's the manager doing it-- we need Mephistopheles' engine to extract 'em from mirror worlds in the first place, and then Dante uses that device of theirs for the process itself. After we agree to use the Identity they're able to overwrite us.

Genetic disorders need not always have a reason. Some people are simply born with them. While I understand that is not your case, I do not anticipate it being an obstacle.
