[ that comes from the person beside him. it's an unusually discomposed moment for someone who is so perfectly, utterly composed, but the shock of watching yuri get devoured right in front of him comes with the horrific realization of two things. the first is the visceral reaction to it - he has become so fond of yuri that it has to be obvious, by now.
and the second is realization. because temenos saw this. in the mirror, back on the vampire planet, he saw the apple creature, holding her head.
[ oh, gregor. this is why the composure matters - because it is moments like these that make temenos excel. he is the cleric, after all, and he gentles, reaching out with one hand to touch him on the arm. his human one, too. a reminder. ]
Though things are fraught, she is here, now. [ his voice is soft as always, heavy with something unsaid. she is still in danger at all times, no matter how many of us want to protect her. ] This place is hardly full of blessings, but if there is one, it is that she lives and breathes.
...I wasn't sure if she was real, at first. If this place was real, or if I was having a dream.
[he says, quietly, with a little shake of his head.]
She's here, but she...
[he's thinking the exact same thing. she's in danger, and he can't do anything to protect her. just like the first time, if anything happens to her, then he...
he was right there. he couldn't save her. he should have been able to save her. here, too, he'll be right there if she dies, and he won't be able to do a thing.]
[ yeah. he finishes the sentence, because temenos has never been an optimist. ] Still. Bearing in mind the potential is no reason to send away the good that has come of it. This is time she would not have had at all.
[ and at least she has it. temenos is very glad for it, both for yuri's sake, and for gregor's. ]
[ because the world sucks like that. it's always out of control - the look on his face is sympathetic, at least. ] And know, at least, that you are not alone in that regard. She is very well loved, among our group.
