Not at all.

[ ugh. his expression doesn't change, really, but he does look down at his lap. ]

We were separated, when things began to get dangerous, though we had planned to avoid just that.

[ gazes tiredly thinking about what happened ]

Some more than others. Though I wouldn't call age necessarily a factor, unless you refer to one end of the scale or the other.

[ ... ]

...yes, something like that, indeed.

[ there's a slight frown on his face, now, something a little more reflective and thoughtful. internalized, less so than his usual, ever calm smile. ]

I was able to keep my wits about me when things started to go south, but only because there were certain details that were immediately logical impossibilities, for myself. I don't believe the other three had the same luxury.

I believe so. The 'ceremony' featured a few people who were to be, more or less, consumed by a plant called the heartseed. They were described as criminals, and this as their punishment, though it seemed more as a spectacle for the wealthy to enjoy.

The criminals were people that we knew. [ a pause, here - he has to cough, a little, rubbing at his chest with one hand. but that doesn't change the way his gaze sharpens, a touch, either. ] But, the problem with that: the person who was being punished from my world was someone who had been dead for weeks. I saw his body myself.

[ and really. especially now that some time has passed, this entire situation just made temenos angry, though he'd never show it. it's the same thing that arcanette did - the same way she tried to use the very same person against him, to try and force him to crack, as some form of torment. like hell he was going to allow that to work. ]

Unless they had managed to resurrect him in a way that I and the other clerics could not, and did so only to have him killed for a crime, which seems highly unlikely of all of the planets and universes and people of all of the world that they would choose to do so with him, then it follows as such. Illogical.

So. I didn't find it nearly so distressing as the others might have.

[ he nods. ]

I certainly don't blame them for it. [ this is just how he functions. it's how he has to function, so deeply entrenched in cynicism and doubt that it's simply - what he does. ]

In the end, it didn't matter. All hell broke loose before the execution happened: the creature broke containment and began to slaughter everything and everyone in sight.

[ man his world sucks sometimes but yours is a nightmare zone.

temenos nods to that, though, looking down a little at himself. he still is in Bad shape, but he rests his hand on one of his injuries, gingerly. ]

Yes. I imagine it could have been much worse - we got lucky, in a few regards. Owner was able to find the center of the thing and destroy it, and I... well. Thankfully, for many reasons, whatever magical signal that creature was giving off was strong enough that it caused the nanites to fluctuate, so I had my magic. Spotty and tenuous, but I had it nonetheless.
